This week's Players of the Week in the Gateway
Football Conference are Travis Glasford of Western Illinois; DB Quincy Wallace
of Indiana State; PK Kyle Hooper of Indiana State; and OL Brad Durham of SMS.
RB Travis Glasford, Western Illinois
Jr., 5-11, 190, Miami (Fla.) Southridge
Glasford rushed for 229 yards and six TDs on 24 carries in under two quarters against Cheyney, setting school records for most rushing touchdowns in a quarter, half, and game, most rushing yards in a quarter and half, and most points in a quarter, half and game. His 36 points tied a Gateway single-game record, and his six rushing touchdowns set a new league mark. He rushed 15 times for 142 yards and five scores in the first quarter,
Offensive
RB Travis Glasford, Western Illinois

His 36 points tied a Gateway single-game record, and his six rushing touchdowns set a new league mark. He rushed 15 times for 142 yards and five scores in the first quarter,
reaching the end zone on
each of the Leathernecks’ first five drives. Glasford’s night ended with 8:00
remaining in the second quarter, after he recorded the second 200-yard rushing
game of his career.
DB Quincy Wallace, Indiana State
Sr., 5-8, 180, Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central
Wallace recorded nine total tackles, five solos, in ISU’s 33-30 overtime victory at Eastern Illinois. Wallace also made a huge interception early in the contest that set up a Sycamore scoring drive. He was credited with two passes defended, including a key breakup with in the back of the endzone with the Sycamores trailing late in the contest. As a punt returner, Wallace had two returns for 34 yards, including a 34-yarder back to the EIU 23-yard line that set up a Sycamore field goal.
PK Kyle Hooper, Indiana State
So., 5-10, 155, Fort Myers, Fla., Bishop Verot High
Hooper tied the school record for field goals made in a game as he hit four of his five attempts in a 33-30 OT win at Eastern Illinois. He started off his record-tying night with a career-long 46-yarder. He then drained a pair of 40-yarders in the fourth quarter -- including one as time expired to force overtime. He also had a game-winning 20-yarder in the first overtime. Hooper added a perfect three-for-three effort on PAT’s to account for 15 points in the win. The four field goals are a career-high, besting his previous high of three makes against Eastern Illinois in 2003.
OC Brad Durham, SMS
St. Joseph, Mo.
Durham graded 93 percent for the Sam Houston State game, with nine knockdowns, no sacks and no hits on QB allowed, and no missed assignments. The Bears (2-0) and the Sam Houston State Bearkats (1-1) combined for 37 points in the final period and 27 points in the last 2:37 as A.J. Porter’s pass to Kaya Farris gave SMS two come-from-behind touchdowns in the final 1:33 of the game.
